Subcultures and countercultures of a society arent the majority rule, even democracy is the voice of the people, some groups and people are more influential and have the power to decide, this because people choose their representatives and that is sometimes the main problem. Smaller groups dont have much power in democracy, pure democracy care for majority, and not for subordinated groups, devoting very little attention to political subcultures and its development, which is an indicator of the existing levels of freedom. To judge a conduct from a subordinated group is essential to know the reason and the meaning it has for them, what it may be right for one group can be completely rejected for the members of another, and vice versa. This is better explained in Rachels critique of cultural relativism, to call something right or wrong would imply being able to judge such a custom from an independent point of view to personal opinion.
